Saturn is moving in to oppose Uranus. Uranus is back-pedalling, still in retrograde motion, trying to outwit Saturn, but Saturn is moving full bore forward and will catch up by November 4th - election day.
Uranus doesn't like Saturn. Uranus is Aquarian energy....it's the hippie of the zodiac. It wants to be unfettered and free. It resists Saturn's determination to whip it into line. Saturn is the cop/judge, which takes a dim view of Uranus' free wheeling spirit.
The last time these two met was in 1965-66-67. It was even more potent then, because Pluto was conjuncting Uranus, and along the way Chiron joined with Saturn for a spell. Chiron is the wounding and Saturn is seen as father, among other identities. Whenever Saturn and Pluto aspect each other, there are 'father' issues involved. Authority is in focus, and S/P demands ultimate obediency. So Uranus and Pluto conjoined in Virgo, producing the hippie generation, recreational sex, and uncommitted relationships. Saturn moved in to oppose them, with Chiron chirping in for a spell. So, it was a time of Saturn and Pluto trying to contain Uranus and keep it under control....with Uranus energy leaking out every way it could. We remember those days how the hippies were denigrated and looked down upon.....and yet a few years later I saw a bumper sticker that said, "Beyond War" a typical hippie statement....wow! The mores of the time said that war was the ultimate answer when all else failed. Now we know there is something else.....we broke the Saturn finite barrier and moved into the transcendental energies of the higher octaves of the planets - Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. I thought since the concept had been conceived it would take over eventually, but alas, it hasn't yet.
This time, we don't have that additional energy. We have Uranus in Pisces and Saturn in Virgo. In the middle 60's, it was reversed. For those born in that time frame, Uranus has come around 180 degrees and it's trying to liberate its baby self from the mind games of its infancy.
Not only do the two meet in November, they hang out, back and forth thru next year, meeting again on Feb 5th and Sept 15.....as they do this, Saturn moves in to square Pluto (90 degrees apart) by the end of 2009 and Uranus is moving in to square Pluto by 2012 (creating stress and challenge) so the stage is being set with this opposition in November. There was a lot of political upheaval in the 60's....we'll have to see what this configuration has in store for us.
So, Uranus is in Pisces....left brained, Aquarius energy moving thru the land of Neptunian Pisces; right brained and artistic. It isn't really totally comfortable there, a left brained mathematician in the land of visualization and dreams, but they are both higher consciousness, so they work together on that level. Enter finite Saturn, with its rules and regulations, trying to bring that energy back down to earth, and Uranus chafes. It can't be out there with its genius energy, seeing new ways to do things, coloring outside the lines, having a vision of this world that few have, with Saturn taking it's hand and rapping its knuckles, and told to stay within the confines of a finite world. We may see, like this graphic, that our blindfold is taken off and we see clearly for the first time; recognizing how we've been duped by authority figures.
On the national front, S/U opposes in the United States' chart from the end of the 4th house of home, family and roots, to the end of the 10th house of career, stature and reputation. The founding principles find Saturn trying to create a solid, structured base, but the people (the moon represents the people in a nation's chart) with the moon in the 10th and both the transcendant planets, Neptune and Uranus nearby, want freedom, vision and change. We will soon see how this plays out.
Aries: Saturn is in your 6th house while Uranus is in the 12th. You can find that you have a tough boss on the job, while your mate might be insecure in their career, and you may have to support everyone for awhile.
Taurus: Saturn is in your 5th house while Uranus is in the 11th. Your kids take up your attention, and you might hate 'tough love' but it may be appropriate....while you find new friends encourage you to seek higher consciousness....or your kids get judgmental with you as they see you stepping out of their preconceived world.
Gemini: Saturn is in your 4th house while Uranus is in the 10th. Much like the U.S. itself, Saturn is providing stabiity at home if not ingenuity, and Uranus is like a little earthquake in your career area.....check out the opportunities even if Saturn instills a bit of fear.
Cancer: Saturn is in your 3rd house while Uranus is in the 9th. Your words are serious now, and you may get into it with a sibling or teacher or neighbor. At the same time, Uranus urges you to take a trip, get some higher education, or in other ways expand your world.
Leo: Saturn is in your 2nd house while Uranus is in the 8th. Money is in the spotlight here. Saturn sits on your desire to spend. Doesn't mean money can't be had, but you'll work for it. On the other hand, Uranus in the 8th could bring in an inheritance, but in other ways could see your mate go on a spending spree.
Virgo: Saturn is in your 1st house while Uranus is in the 7th. Saturn's egress into Virgo adds to your groundeness, but produces some fear and maybe a little depression at times, while Uranus may bring in a new relationship, but you may be wary to dip your toe back into relationship waters.
Libra: Saturn is in your 12th house while Uranus is in the 6th. Saturn hides in your 12th house, dampening your desire to express yourself more, while Uranus can find you getting fed up with the 5 day a week job and wanting to set your own schedule.
Scorpio: Saturn is in your 11th house while Uranus is in the 5th. Saturn makes you serious about career money and brings you friends that want you to be safe in your ambitions, while Uranus in the 5th can see your kids encouraging you to risk and branch out...at the same time a new relationship can come along when you least expect it.
Sag: Saturn is in your 10th house while Uranus is in the 4th. Saturn likes the 10th, it's home because it's Capricorn's house as the foundation, but it's still going to make you work for what you achieve. There can also be issues with dad.... At the same time, Uranus is shaking up your 4th house, wanting you to see the fallacies of some of the tenets of your upbringing and find your own answers.....maybe mom files for divorce.
Capricorn: Saturn is in your 9th house while Uranus is in the 3rd. Saturn finds a professor or coach can ride roughshod over you. While Uranus sparks your creativity and maybe you can write of new visions and vistas. A sibling could break out and be more radical.
Aquarius: Saturn is in your 8th house while Uranus is in the 2nd. Saturn sits on your mate's wallet; your spouse isn't willing to open the purse strings....and may be somewhat conventional in bed. They can be having issues at work. While Uranus in the 2nd encourages you to find some new, inventive ways to pay the bills.
Pisces: Saturn is in your 7th house while Uranus is in the 1st. Saturn here often creates a divorce. Either you or your mate just isn't going to put up with it anymore. Whlle Uranus in the first makes you itchy to explore and you don't want to be confined, and feel smothered in your relationship.
Combine your sun sign with your rising sign to synthesize the two energies. If your sun sign or rising is 20 degrees or later ....or more towards the next sign....read that/those instead.
